I'm Annette Melhede, 47 years old, Dutch from origin, but already living in Denmark for almost 16 years. Married, one daughter and living on the beautiful isle Fyn, where we have a little farm and sheep for training. I work at the logistics center of TDC, one of Denmark's leading telephone companies, as an operating coordinator.
In 1995 I bought my first border collie Tara, and I had in mind to do a lot of agility with her. On a puppy meeting day, we could try some herding, but Tara (then 9 months) wasn't very interested. So I left it for a while, and was still looking forward to do a lot of agility with her. When she was a bit older, she got interested in herding anyway and in 1997 I bred a litter with her where my Flint came from. He made me realize that I wasn't made for agility at all. I was way too messy with my commands, so that every jump fell down, and I had a hard time to handle such a fast dog, I found out it was much easier to stand still at a post and whistle some commands.
So then I stopped with agility and continued with only herding. Tara had been my try out, made a lot of mistakes, but through that I learned a lot. Flint was a terrific cooperative dog and soon we started to end in the top placings on trials. I started to compete in qualification trials just before I moved to Denmark and continued in DK. Since then I have been several times on the Danish team for several CSC (twice I reached the finals with Flint), and after that some CSC's with Roy. I have been to three different WT's with Flint, Roy and the last time in Scotland with Don. After that WT, I was some years without a suitable dog, but now it looks like my soon 5 year old Foxy Lady (granddaughter of late Roy) is getting more and more there where I want her. And then I have a youngster of 1,5 years old which I have very high expectations of, and he is called... of course Flint II. At least he looks very promising.
Now and then I do some judging as well, mostly here in Denmark, but also international, and last year I had the honor to judge on the WT in Opmeer/Holland. Thanks a lot for the invitation to come and judge the Finnish kennelclub Championship, and looking forward to see and meet new dogs and their handlers!
